The First Annual Canadian Conference on Spirituality and Social Work
“Spiritual Diversity and Social Work"

This was the first conference in Canada dedicated to Spirituality and Social Work; 100 practitioners, scholars and students attended. This conference was held with the support of, and in conjunction, with the annual meeting of the CASSW; the assistance provided by the Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto regarding on-site arrangements was greatly appreciated. Funding from the SSHRC made the conference possible.
The keynote address was given by Dr. Edward Canda, and additional information on his keynote can be viewed here.

Edward Canda, PhD - University of Kansas
The conference was delighted to have Dr. Canda present the Keynote Address. Dr. Canda is Founder of the Society for Spirituality and Social Work (USA) and the author of four books and several articles dealing with spirituality and social work. His books include Spiritual Diversity in Social Work Practice: The Heart of Helping (1999) and Spirituality in Social Work: New Directions (1998).
Dr. Canda published a paper based on this presentation in the journal Currents: New Scholarship in the Human Services.
