GOVERNANCE
For several years, the CSSSW was governed by a small group of academics and practitioners who were committed to the scholarship and development of effective practice in the area of spirituality and social work. A number of academics and professionals served for several of the initial years on the CSSSW Board, they included professors Susan Cadell, John Coates, Diana Coholic, Brian Ouellette, John Graham, and Jeannette Waegemakers-Schiff; and two practitioners - Eric Crowther and Barbara Swartzentruber.
At the conference in 2014 the CSSSW shifted from a volunteer-based to a membership-based organization with Committees managing important functions such as the website and conference. While the goals and objectives remain focused on spirituality and social work, the CSSSW is now governed by a constitution and functions under the direction of an elected Board.
Elections take every second year at the Conference in Canada. Current CSSSW Board Members include:
Laura Beres, PhD, Associate Professor, King’s College, University of Western Ontario
Heather Boynton, PhD. Candidate, University of Calgary, Sessional Lecturer Lakehead University
Susan Cadell, PhD, Professor and Director, School of Social Work, Renison College
